Welcome to Kathwool: Pixel Blanket PDF Patterns

AI-created crochet inspiration: an ivory and muted blue geometric blanket on an oak chair beside a sunlit window.

KATHWOOL JOURNAL

A cottage under an acorn roof. A cat with a book. A little village waiting for its first snowfall. Kathwool’s blanket patterns begin with scenes you can imagine bringing into your home, one row at a time.

If you have just found us, welcome. This is a place to browse crochet pictures, compare project details and choose something you would enjoy spending time on. Your yarn, your colors and your pace will shape the finished piece.

Kathwool sells downloadable crochet PDF patterns. You receive instructions and pattern files for making the project yourself. Yarn, hooks, a materials kit and a finished blanket are not included.

Find a picture you want to make

Some makers are drawn to woodland characters and little houses; others prefer dramatic cathedral arches, moonlit creatures or a Christmas scene to bring out each winter. Think about where the blanket might live and which details you would enjoy seeing emerge.

A pixel-style picture, with a specific crochet method

“Pixel blanket” describes the way a picture is built from a grid. It is not enough information to tell you which stitches to use. Always read the technique named in the individual listing and open the corresponding instructions.

Kathwool’s blanket listings distinguish Overlay Mosaic and Tapestry Crochet. These methods handle stitches and color differently. Use the chart and directions for the method you choose, including its working and finishing instructions. A C2C tutorial will not automatically translate those instructions into corner-to-corner blocks.

Four things to check before choosing a PDF

  1. Technique and terminology. Check the construction method, language and working directions. Choose something you know or allow time to practise the unfamiliar steps.
  2. Chart dimensions. Look at the width and row count. A photograph can make a very large project look compact; the chart gives you a better idea of the work involved.
  3. Included files. Read the listing for the instructions, charts and planning resources supplied with that design. Keep the matching files together.
  4. Your finished size. Swatch with your intended yarn and hook. Use that measurement to plan the body dimensions, then account for the border and finishing.

Make room for the making

You do not need to have every color chosen before browsing. Save a few ideas, compare their scale and picture how the finished piece would feel in your room. Once you choose, make a sample and check both the contrast and the drape before buying the full yarn quantity.

A row marker, a note of your hook size and a simple place to record progress can make it easier to return to a project after a busy week. There is no single timetable for a blanket. Plan around the sessions you actually have.

After you buy

Use the download instructions supplied with your order and save a copy of the files. Read the pattern notes before making your starting chain or buying all your materials.

If you need help finding a download or understanding which file to open, contact Kathwool with the pattern name and your question. For an existing purchase, include your order number and the page or row you mean.
