Description
Heron and Irises - Crochet Blanket Pattern
A long-legged heron stands among three blooming irises, raising one wing to reveal its layered feathers. Slender leaves rise beside the bird, and small ripples gather around its feet. Deep teal silhouettes stand out against a warm peach background.
Choose Overlay Mosaic Crochet or Tapestry Crochet. Each complete pattern contains two alternative working methods: CUT and NO-CUT. Choose one method and follow its complete row-by-row instructions from beginning to end. The scene is charted separately for each technique, with contours adapted to overlay stitches in the Mosaic version.

APPROXIMATE YARN REQUIREMENTS
Yarn requirements depend on your swatch, yarn label, working method, tension and border. The included guide calculates each color from a weighed 20 x 20 panel. It includes the side stitches, an adjustable A-color border allowance, CUT row tails when applicable, and 10% extra yarn.
Illustrative calculation: if the selected technique's 20 x 20 panel uses 5 g of A and 6 g of B, with 300 m / 100 g yarn, 100 g skeins, 15 cm row tails and a 12% A-color envelope-border allowance:
- Mosaic CUT: A approximately 812 g (9 x 100 g skeins); B approximately 777 g (8 x 100 g skeins).
- Mosaic NO-CUT: A approximately 798 g (8 x 100 g skeins); B approximately 763 g (8 x 100 g skeins).
- Tapestry CUT: A approximately 825 g (9 x 100 g skeins); B approximately 785 g (8 x 100 g skeins).
- Tapestry NO-CUT: A approximately 798 g (8 x 100 g skeins); B approximately 757 g (8 x 100 g skeins).
These are swatch-based calculation examples, not fixed quantities for a yarn-weight category. Replace the sample values with your own measurements. Always round up each color separately.
FINISHED SIZE
Width including side stitches = 182 x (your 20-stitch swatch width / 20). Height = the selected chart's row count x (your 20-row swatch height / 20). The finishing border adds to both dimensions.
For a 20 x 20 panel measuring 10 x 10 cm, the Mosaic body including side stitches is approximately 91.0 x 126.5 cm (35.8 x 49.8 in), before the outer border.
For a 20 x 20 panel measuring 10 x 10 cm, the Tapestry body including side stitches is approximately 91.0 x 126.0 cm (35.8 x 49.6 in), before the outer border.
